Gretel & Bo’s 12.7.22 Australian Labradoodle Puppies
(Laverne & Shirley Litter)
Adoption Days!
For both Laverne and Shirley, adoption time came after extra training and snuggles at Ever After. In the end, both found the most loving of homes. Laverne is now part of Ever After’s breeding program but is enjoying her growing up years with an adoring guardian family.
Gretel & Bo’s 12.7.22 Litter - 7 & 8 Weeks
Time does fly by when you are having fun; these two are total enjoyment. Two weeks into one makes sense with how quickly Laverne and Shirley respond to training (litter trays, outdoor potty using a doggy door, “sit,” “come,” crate training, etc.). Having nine older siblings certainly sped up the learning curve! Being a small breeder family that dedicates every waking moment of the puppies’ to social and training time helps too;) Their quiet, loving demeanors got one of them a trip to “the back” for showing off at the vet office. Ever After calls that “puppy therapy” for dog lovers. Surprisingly, both of these snugglers are still AVAILABLE.
Gretel & Bo’s 12.7.22 Litter - 6 Weeks
Laverne and Shirley hold their own with their older siblings. We used to protect them from getting played with too hard. Now, they strut around the play areas with the confidence of puppies twice their age…and size;) This week, it was fun for the girls to explore in the big yard, but the snow proved a bit too chilly after a short while. However, their fur is coming in soft and thick. In a short time, the cold weather won’t be a thing anymore. We really enjoy snuggling with these two chubby fur balls.
Gretel & Bo’s 12.7.22 Litter - 4 Weeks
These two cuties do pretty well keeping up with their older siblings from Mila’s litter. We do hover over them a bit as they can seem like everyone’s favorite chew toy sometimes. Being a week younger than the rest, Laverne & Shirley leave pack-play early for naptimes as they crawl into our laps for warm snuggles while the others carry on with their wrestles. We ADORE having them fall asleep in our arms with their soft, squishy bodies.
Gretel & Bo’s 12.7.22 Litter - 3 Weeks
Ever After is often asked how we take such great pictures of the puppies. Well, it is all about patience and remembering that they are just babies. You can see from the blooper pictures how tiny the puppies are compared to our human hands. Thus, their favorite things in life are still nursing and sleeping - we need to respect that. In addition, with their eyes still developing, the pups tend to avoid looking into the studio lights; so, we try to work as quickly as possible. On a sweet note, because their Momma Gretel is willingly helping Mila raise three of her nine pups, Laverne and Shirley get to puppy pile with adopted older siblings. All five puppies as well as mommies are cool with the arrangement - everyone benefits.
Merry Christmas to all & to all a good night! Love, Laverne and Shirley
Gretel & Bo’s 12.7.22 Litter - 1 Week
Good grief, these two little girls are cute! Being they only have Gretel and each other to snuggle with, Ever After put two heating pads in their whelping box. However, with all of the extra milk faucets, their extra chub obtained seems to be keeping them warm as well. Eyes and ears remain closed this week; yet smelling and scooting to the milk bar present no problem. The entire birthing and nursing processes are miraculous. Birth weights for Laverne and Shirley are given.
Gretel & Bo’s Puppies Arrived!
This is Gretel’s first litter. She sure loved her honeymoon with the handsome Mr. Bo Jangles; but the couple only conceived two puppies this go around. As you can see from the X-ray, the puppies appeared quite large a week before due date. With 1-2 pup litters, C-sections are always a consideration for the safety of mom and puppies. In this case, Gretel made it seem like a cake walk to whelp naturally. Her calm and quiet labor started at 6:40 P.M. on 12.7.22. Then, with only 12 minutes of concentrated pushing, both puppies were born from 8:05 P.M.-8:17 P.M. Two little chocolate girls with white markings are nursing well as they enjoy the many extra milk faucets afforded a small family. Our joyful Gretel adores them!
