Gretel & Wookiee’s 12.7.24 Wicked Litter - Week 5

Now that our Australian Labradoodle puppies have done so well with litter boxes, we are ending their time in the whelping-preschool room. The next step is moving to the large play area in the basement where crate, doggy door, and outside potty training become focused endeavors. This time always comes too fast. We REALLY enjoy the snuggles in the more intimate setting of the preschool room. But alas, the babies are getting bigger and need more room to run and romp. Check out our Training Video on Instagram to see what’s ahead for your sweethearts. Finally, look at these adorable babies! Their temperaments are as tender as their little faces.

Gretel & Wookiee’s 12.7.24 Wicked Litter - Week 4

Good food, good mood! If you have looked at “porridge week” pictures from past litters, you might argue that this litter got cheated - boring! However, your little ones apparently read some puppy etiquette book on proper eating techniques. We have no exciting nose dives, paw emersions, or anything of the like to share with you. The angels got right to work - no dawdlers - no messes - smart bunch! Wookiee has graced our home since his guardian family is having health issues. Do we let him play with his pups? No. Wookiee would like to; but he thinks they are all ready for Daddy wrestles which clearly is not appropriate yet; ha! With Mommy Gretel being a miniature Australian Labradoodle and Daddy Wookiee being a medium, we will know more at seven weeks which parent each puppy will probably take after as far as size. At that age, we have a little cheat sheet (based on weights) that turns out to be a pretty accurate indicator. The pictures of Wookiee show off the variety of colors and sheen of his thick chocolate phantom coat. Get a look at that young man’s conformation! He’s such a handsome, fun fella!

Gretel & Wookiee’s 12.7.24 Wicked Litter - Week 3

Tons of trinkets, toddling trots, and talking tots! This week, our Australian Labradoodle puppies became mobile enough for tiny wrestling matches, combined with tiny vocal attitudes, with tiny toys for curious minds. Moved to preschool stage two, the puppies were introduced to litter tray areas for a keen alternative to soiling their beds. So far so good. The babes also received an extension to their play area for more room to investigate the numerous toys of all shapes, sizes, textures, and noise levels added for desensitization. All seem to enjoy cuddles with the ever-growing staff at Ever After - soft puppy snuggles are the best! Even our sweet neighbor kids volunteer snuggle time.

Gretel & Wookiee’s 12.7.24 Wicked Litter - Week 2

Eyes are open! We know; you see one token picture of the eyes open. At this age, the puppies are too sleepy to keep them visible for long. Plus, the eyes will need a few more weeks to keep developing until operating at full capacity. If you haven’t already, visiting our Instagram account is a must. That’s where fun reels of the puppies are posted. Having the opportunity to take pictures and videos with young babies and Australian Labradoodle puppies is always an opportunity we never pass up - check out the latest with our youngest grandson. Although Gretel still licks her puppies for stimulation and cleaning, the puppy pipes are working on their own now. Ever After’s laundry machines are getting a workout. Also, puppies have found their wobbly legs, and hearing is next on the docket. The changes happen so fast. Journaling with our favorite pictures is a fun way to keep all of you along for the ride. Enjoy! BTW, what do you think of the names? Wicked, what a fun film for our family to attend over the holidays!

Gretel & Wookiee’s 12.7.24 Litter - Week 1

Ever After never tires of celebrating holidays with puppies in-house. This year, company started arriving early creating a total of 12 family members ready to love-on the littles for almost the entire month of December. The grandchildren were over the moon! The pictures are listed by birth order - six puppies in less than two hours - go Gretel! Their birth weights show a variety pack of adult miniatures and small mediums coming our way. You can click on the pictures for a closer look at the cool color assortments - tri chocolate phantoms, a tri chocolate parti, and a solid black! A litter of phantoms is a fun achievement for Ever After; but we’ve yet to produce any colored coat that hasn’t been beautiful.

Happy Birthday!

Confession: “Someone” forgot that Gretel was not supposed to eat the morning of her pregnancy X-ray. Thus, we have a little bit more than puppies pictured in the “waiting chambers.” Regardless, can you see the pups’ perfect skulls, spines, etc.? So cool! Gretel, again, made pregnancy, whelping, nursing, and recovery look like child’s play. Ever After is truly blessed to not only have her as one of our breeder dogs, but to call Gretel our very own, a lifer in our home.
