Penny & Wookiee’s Olympians of Today - Week 7

It is hard saying good-bye to these eight. So many Australian Labradoodle puppies, yet so quiet and so delightful to train. Their temperaments are cemented as incredibly gentle and cuddly. Ever After was fortunate to have this easy group amidst school startup, homecoming events, a new grandchild, and a surgery. With the help of many loving visitors, the puppies stayed on their daily schedule and received even more snuggles than normal. Thank you to all who contributed to one of the best litters ever!

Penny & Wookiee’s Olympians of Today - Week 6

Penny’s guardian family is the best for socializing these active Olympians. Social experiences are something we take very seriously. Ever After’s Australian Labradoodle puppies are around people and dogs (our family dogs) of all ages. It helps so much as the puppies make the transition from Mom (who is starting the weaning process) to putting full trust in humans and other pets in preparation for future families. The puppies also get an average of 2-3 car rides, and these eight have been doing great with those. At adoption time, we give families fun ways to continue to expose their puppies to the big world of never-ending experiences for the most well-adjusted family dogs. The following pictures were a blast to take with these sweet pups!

Penny & Wookiee’s Olympians of Today - Week 5

Isn’t this a great shot of Penny?! The puppies had been nursed, the milk faucets were empty, and she just wanted a moment to chew on a bone. If she had lain down on the ground with the puppies, they would have continued to crawl all over her wanting more milk as well as playtime by pulling on Penny’s ears and tail with their sharp little teeth. Look how the puppies can’t believe that she chose the chair over them - too cute!

No matter the time of year, the open spaces of our two outdoor play areas are always preferred by the puppies. They are great for wearing the little ones out before the last indoor play and snuggles that precede crate-training naps.

This is also the time where puppies transition from litter trays to using a potty door to the outside grass turf. Penny helps collect them from naps to lead them “OUTSIDE” to “GO POTTY.” We follow from behind coaxing any stragglers to continue the path outside with no pit stops;) They’re doing great; but Ever After always looks forward to next week when they’re even better - ha!

Penny & Wookiee’s Olympians of Today - Week 4

Momma Penny is keeping up with her eager eaters; but the babies still allowed Ever After to step in with helpful meal options of our own. We started with soft food morsels in puppy formula, then moved on to pureed puppy kibbles with formula/water. The first attempts at slurping from a container are always so precious. Puppies seem to like the food best from the faces of their siblings and while standing in the dish. Being such an easy-going, clever bunch, porridge introduction was actually a breeze. Transition to new play areas and their own big bedroom with comfy crates also proved to be easy-peasy for this beautiful family. Puppies LOVE experiencing the good outdoors - without fail!

Penny & Wookiee’s Olympians of Today - Week 3

Legs are getting sturdier and paces are quickly picking up speed. Although, for a big group of eight, they sure are quiet and gentle with each other. We will let you know how that continues in the weeks ahead;) Their whelping box has been extended to a larger play area. Since ears are open now, noisy toys are gently being introduced for desensitization. The more experiences the puppies adjust to, the more stable they are as pets. All that said, the babies still sleep a lot. They barely made it through this week’s photo session. You are lucky to see Leon’s eyes open as he was ready to take another nose dive into the furry mat during his picture. Pretty darn cute, aren’t they!

Penny & Wookiee’s Olympians of Today - Week 2

This litter of sweethearts is so incredibly cute! All eight pile on top of each other for the coziest of slumber parties - all the while making dreamy puppy noises as they sleep. Eyes opening serves as an absolute miraculous moment every single time. Ears open shortly after. Pink noses are continuing to fill in with color. Tummy scoots are readily turning into wobbly four-legged attempts. Corps de ballet they are not, but it will not be long now. Golly, we wish you all could experience their soft, warm little bodies nestled under your chins - yummy! As for the Olympians’ answer key: Simone Biles (USA gymnastics), Katie Ledecky (USA swimming), Spiff Sedrick (USA rugby), Gabby Thomas (USA sprinter), Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (USA track), Armand (Mondo) Duplantis (Sweden pole vault), Stephen Nedoroscik (USA gymnastics), Leon Marchand (France swimmer). Did you get them all right?

 Penny & Wookiee’s Olympians of Today - Week 1

Penny and Wookiee did an awfully good job for both being newbies. Instinctually, Penny is ALL about her puppies. She keeps them warm and fed. With eight puppies and nine milk faucets, there are only second helpings for one puppy each nursing. Therefore, Penny keeps busy supplying all; yet seems to love every second of it. Although blind and deaf, it is remarkable how the puppies scoot around on their tummies smelling and feeling their way to Mom, siblings, and the heated area of the whelping box. Can you guess who all of the Olympians of Today are as listed under each picture? The birth weights are included but each puppy has put on chunk since those numbers - for sure. We love full little milk tummies!

Happy Birthday! - 8.16.24

Penny went camping the week before she whelped a good-size litter! Her active guardian family kept Penny in shape (safely) where she was able to deliver eight healthy puppies with ease. Ironically, Penny’s mother Mila gave birth to eight puppies her first time as well. Look at the beautiful, deep colors of chocolate and black! We were blessed with 5 girls and 3 boys. Momma and babies are doing well. Penny’s easy-going, happy personality is a joy to have around. What great temperaments these eight will inherit from Penny and Wookiee!
